Turkmen sambo wrestlers win 14 medals
at the Asian Championship in Uzbekistan
Fourteen medals - 2 gold, 2 silver and 10 bronze - were won by Turkmen athletes at the Asian Sports and Combat Sambo Championship that ended in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, according to the website of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS).
About 400 athletes from 16 countries took part in the championship. Competitions were held in three age groups - among boys and girls, juniors, men and women.
The champions of Asia in the team of Turkmenistan were Muhammad Kosekov (weight category up to 64 kg among men) and Charymurad Annakurbanov (weight category up to 98 kg in combat sambo).
Silver medals went to Babadzhan Ivadullaev (up to 100 kg) in combat sambo and Rano Uzakova (up to 72 kg) in women.
Bronze medals were awarded to: Aziza Nazarova (50 kg), Rushana Nurjavova (54 kg), Violetta Krovyakova (65 kg), Madina Aydogdyeva (59 kg), Jakhan Mukhammedova (80 kg), Maksuda Egemberdieva (over 80 kg) among women, Ruslan Esgerov (98 kg) among men, Yusup Tanriberdiev (58 kg), Rejepnur Agaev (71 kg), Jovlanbek Madaminov (88 kg) in combat sambo.
