International Competition Medals
Developing physical culture and sports, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle, has become one of the priority directions of state policy in Turkmenistan. Modern sports complexes built across all regions of our beloved country and the broad opportunities created for athletes contribute to achieving new victories in international competitions.
As a result of this consistent support, Turkmen athletes continue to elevate the sporting prestige of our Motherland at the global level during the year declared as “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds.”
A clear confirmation of this is the medals won at the World Youth Weightlifting Championship held in the city of Ismailia in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
At this prestigious competition, Anamjan Rustamova won a gold medal in the weight category up to 86 kg. She lifted 110 kg in the snatch and 147 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a total of 257 kg. She also earned a small gold medal in the clean and jerk.
A 12th-grade student of the “Olimp” Secondary Sports School, Didarbek Jumabayev, also delivered an outstanding performance. Competing in the weight category up to 79 kg, he secured a silver medal in the clean and jerk with a result of 187 kg, and a bronze medal in total with 335 kg.
A total of 271 athletes from 53 countries participated in the competition.
This international success of our young athletes is a clear result of the favorable conditions created in our country for engaging youth in sports and nurturing talented athletes. The great attention given to physical culture and sports by the state continues to inspire our athletes toward new victories.
