Turkmenistan was represented by Serdar Gurdov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Combat Sports of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sport and Secretary General of the National Federation of Student Sports of Turkmenistan.
The forum focused on the development of student sports, the exchange of best practices, and strengthening cooperation among relevant organizations in Central Asian countries. As part of the programme, on October 1 the international delegation visited Samarkand and learned about the activities of the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, its educational environment, and the opportunities provided for students and young people.
A key event was a meeting between FISU President Leonz Eder, Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Student Sports Association Erkin Kodirov, and university students. The open discussion covered the development of student sports, opportunities in the sports sector, and international exchange of experience.
The forum also included cultural activities. The delegation visited several of Samarkand’s major historical and cultural sites, including the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, Registan Square, the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, and the Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex.
The First Central Asian Student Sports Forum provided an opportunity to exchange views on the development of student sports, explore modern approaches, and identify areas for future regional cooperation.
