Turkmen sportsmen won nine medals at the Cup for the Founders of SAMBO Tournament
The international tournament "Cup for the Founders of SAMBO" was held at the Moscow Center for Martial Arts.
More than 200 athletes from 13 countries took part in the competition, competing for prizes in 7 weight categories and combat sambo among men and women.
In total, our compatriots won 9 medals during the two-day competition - 1 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze.
David Avchyan, 1st year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports from our team, 64 kg. won the gold medal in the weight category. D. Avchyan was honored by his native city - the coach of the 5th sports school of the Ashgabat Department of Sports and Youth Policy Kerimberdi Dovletov. As a result, Kerimberdi Dolvetov took second place.
Mukhammed Kosekov (up to 71 kg), Begench Baltaev (up to 79 kg) and Guvanch Begaliev (up to 98 kg) won silver medals in sports sambo.
Bronze medals were won by Angelina Filippova (up to 59 kg), Nedir Allaberdiev (up to 79 kg) in sports sambo, Serdar Hojamukhammedov (up to 88 kg) and Bezirgen Begenjov (up to 98 kg) in combat sambo.
Previously, this competition was called “Memorial A.A. Kharlampiev". The competitions were established in 1980 on the initiative of the Department of Physical Education of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, where one of the founders of Sambo Anatoly Arkadyevich Kharlampiev worked in recent years. In 2009, they changed the name of this tournament to "A.A. Memorial". Kharlampiev". In 2022, the organizers of the tournament changed its name to the international tournament "Sambo Founders Cup" in order to restore historical justice, because the founders of sambo were Anatoly Kharlampiev, Vasily Oshshchepkov and Viktor Spiridonov.
