Muay Thai is an ancient martial art that originated in present-day Thailand. Initially, it was known as “mai si ork” and later as “pahu-yut,” which can be translated as “multi-directional combat.” The term “Muay Thai” came into common use in the early 20th century and means “Thai boxing,” which is why the sport is often referred to by this name in many countries.
Today, Muay Thai is one of the most respected and popular national sports in Thailand. It continues to gain global popularity and is developing rapidly worldwide.
The textbook “Theory and Methodology of Muay Thai” is intended for students specializing in sports disciplines. It will also serve as a useful resource for athletes interested in Muay Thai.
